We are looking for an individual to join our team of Trustees, taking specific responsibility for financial oversight. Trustees also have the corporate role of strategic oversight and practical support to our work.
We engage a professional accountancy company to produce quarterly finance reports, which form the basis of our VAT returns and our Annual Accounts – both of which are undertaken by staff at our HQ. The work involves a small amount of bookkeeping which is semi-automated.

Experience Required
No specific experience beyond that required for this area, e.g. in finance or risk management. We are looking for a computer-literate person with financial experience either in a professional or voluntary capacity. There is no requirement for accountancy qualifications. Full support is offered at startup.
Training Details
Trustees will be given a full induction into the work of The Mission to Seafarers Scotland and the work of Mission to Seafarers across the world. Where appropriate, trustees may accompany our Chaplain or a ship visitor, to gain first-hand experience of our work, provided a short online training is undertaken. There will be a full handover and induction in addition to this. Our current Vice Chair of Trustees is also our Interim Treasurer and will be available to partner and support you.
Location/Travel Details
The majority of the work can be done remotely. We have an annual 'development day' meeting when it is desirable to meet face to face. It is at a mutually-agreed location. Occasional visits to our Seafarers' Centre are useful but not essential. Located within Grangemouth Docks, security measures are in place for access, which is easily arranged. Any travel and other expenses are fully covered.
