Remembering our Colleague and Friend

It is with great sadness that we announce the death, following a short illness, of our friend and colleague Paul Bennett, aged 49.

To many people Paul was the first person they would meet when they came into Volunteer Edinburgh and to many organisations he was the guy who would help you to craft your adverts to make sure that they were as effective as possible.

Prior to being employed in 2002, Paul volunteered with us as a photographer and over the years he put his photography skills to good use and was a prominent fixture at our annual Awards Ceremony making sure that every award recipient had their moment captured.

He was above all else a real character. He was down to earth, kind and genuinely a one off. We will all miss him very much.

Paul worked with and helped so many people over the many years he was with us, and regularly made us smile and laugh. If you have a photo, a story or a funny anecdote about him that you would like to share with us please email me at

Paul is survived by his mum, sister, his son Aarun and his partner Jeab and their twin girls Jessica and Jasmine.

As colleagues and friends of Paul, we want to remember him in the best way we can and help his family as best we can by supporting the education of his young daughters. Weʼre raising £2,000 to support the ongoing education of Jessica and Jasmine in Thailand, in memory of Paul. Please help us if you are able to.
