Edinburgh’s strategy for volunteering is available to download opposite (or below on a mobile device). Developed by the iGIVE group of the Compact Partnership (key partners from the voluntary and public sector) this strategy aims to embed volunteering in policy and practice across the city.
We will be publishing a new strategy for 2018-2022 soon so please return to this page for updates.
Our Vision
Our vision is of a city where Edinburgh’s population is inspired and supported to volunteer.
Our Shared Objectives
- We want to make volunteering a strategic force for change;
- We aim to increase the number and diversity of people volunteering; and
- We will maximise good practice and quality standards.
For more information on the strategy please contact Paul J Wilson at paul.wilson@volunteeredinburgh.org.uk.
Tell us what you think
We are currently producing Edinburgh’s third volunteer strategy Volunteering and Active Citizenship Strategy 2018-2022 on behalf of the Edinburgh Compact. This will look at volunteering in the city today and what needs to be done to encourage and support more people to volunteer.
Edinburgh will have many challenges to meet in the coming years and volunteering and active citizenship will play a crucial part in addressing these, and in ensuring that our city is a great place to live, work in or to visit. In developing the strategy, we are consulting with a wide range of stakeholders including people who volunteer, organisations that engage them and crucially people who are not volunteering.
As part of the consultation phase of the development of the strategy, we have put together some open questions aimed at volunteers and volunteer involving organisations. Please, share your thoughts by clicking on the appropriate button in the sidebar (or below on a mobile device), and feel free to write as much or as little as you wish.
