volunteering at christmas

Christmas volunteering opportunities are hugely popular and fill quickly and well in advance

Thank you for your interest in volunteering at Christmas, we always love to hear from people who are interested in volunteering, but there are a few reasons why it is difficult to find opportunities around this time of year, and that’s what prompted us to write the article Volunteering at Christmas which you can view and download here, or via the downloads box in the sidebar (below on mobile).

Opportunities to volunteer on Christmas day are hugely popular and that means that any vacancies often fill very quickly, and well in advance.

So the short answer is that there aren’t a huge amount of short-term opportunities on or around Christmas, however from time to time we have opportunities to help with things like charity gift wrapping in shopping centres, selling charity Christmas cards and bag packing in supermarkets, all of which help to raise valuable funds for charities. There are also gift giving schemes where you can donate gifts/items that can be passed onto to homeless folk/vulnerably housed, families, children in need, animal shelters etc.

We publish details of these and many more opportunities to make a difference on our website as they come in.

Please do consider browsing our opportunities online with a view to making a lasting voluntary contribution throughout the year. I also recommend signing-up for our free Volunteers’ Bulletin which features the latest volunteering news, opportunities, and details of community events. You will find links to both of these in the sidebar (below on mobile).

We hope this is helpful, and please don’t hesitate to get in-touch if you need any further information, or have any questions by email at hello@volunteeredinburgh.org.uk or by calling 0131 225 0630.
