Support kids to have fun, learn, achieve and feel good about themselves. We are looking for volunteers to support in one of our three open youth clubs (Junior club for P5-7, Senior club for P7-S4 and our Roots club for P3/4).
About The BIG Project
Our project aims to support children and young people to take part in a range of activities that will not only help them personally but aid their social development. We offer a range of activities including sports, drama, singing and the arts to help raise young people?s aspirations, increase self-esteem and develop self- control thus enabling young people to take pride in themselves and their community. Ability to use your initiative; reliable; enthusiastic; committed; active listening skills; open minded; non-judgemental; sense of humour; likes children and young people and good communication skills. Experience of youth work is desirable but not necessary.
Volunteers will undergo induction sessions before they take up the position. They will also be offered training as appropriate either delivered in house or by other organisations. They will have weekly group supervision and termly 1:1 supervision
Flexibility & Commitment
3 hours per Week. Minimum Commitment: 6 MonthWeekdays
All opportunities happen once a week term time and take place in Broomhouse Primary School. Buses to Saughton Road - no 22 from Princes Street. Buses to Calder Road - Nos 3, 33, 25 (Lothian Regional Transport). Nos 27 and 28 (First Bus)
