The Witness Service provides practical and emotional support and someone to talk to in confidence to all witnesses (including family and friends) attending court. The WS volunteers support victims and witnesses in court on the trial day, carry out court familiarization visits prior to the trial, explain court procedures and liaise with court officials on behalf of witnesses, passing on information or queries.
About Victim Support Scotland
About Victim Support Scotland: Victim Support Scotland is the lead voluntary organisation in Scotland helping people affected by crime. It provides emotional support, practical help and essential information to victims, witnesses and others affected by crime. The service is free, confidential and is provided by volunteers.
Volunteers should have a desire to help others, be non-judgemental and able to keep information of a confidential nature. They need to be confident enough to speak to groups of people which may include uniformed and non-uniformed police officers.
