About Children’s Holiday Venture
Children’s Holiday Venture is a volunteering society run by students from the University of Edinburgh. Our mission is to see each child be unlimited by their socio-economic background or circumstances.
Essential: Age 21+ and have held a UK driving licence for a minimum of 2 years Desirable: Previous experience working with children, experience in or ideas of activities we could run for the children we work with.
Training which covers child behaviour, safeguarding and goes through case studies will be provided, with additional training opportunities offered throughout the year.
Flexibility & Commitment
5 hours per fortnight during term time
Volunteers and the driver will meet at the Pleasance Courtyard (60 Pleasance, Edinburgh EH8 9TJ) at 5pm - where there is also space for parking. Our activity groups work with children from Niddrie, Pilton and Wester Hailes and drivers will take the CHV minibus there, collect the children we work with from their homes, before taking them to the site of the evening activity. This may be a room at the University of Edinburgh or an activity centre in Edinburgh (e.g. bowling alley or trampoline park). Following the activity night, the children are dropped back to their homes, before volunteers and the driver return the bus to Pleasance at around 10pm.
- Happy to have a conversation about volunteer’s needs
