We are looking for volunteers to work alongside our Administration team and help to provide reception cover and admin support. You will play an important role in welcoming our clients and creating a safe, friendly atmosphere at reception.Our client’s first point of contact is by telephone. Volunteers will be trained and supported to take calls that may involve vulnerable clients.
About Simpson House
Simpson House offers various services working with children, families and individuals affected by drug use. Simpson House Drugs Counselling Service provides drugs counselling to people using drugs or affected by drugs. Counsellors also see clients at HMP Edinburgh. The counselling service is accrediated by the Brithish Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists. Sunflower Garden works with children within the city of Edinburgh who are affected by drug or alcohol misuse in their families. The service is child friendly and child focussed in its work, providing a range of therapeutic services to children aged from 5 to 14 years old. The project aims to build resilience in children through improving self esteem, increasing confidence, and helping children to find ways of coping with their situations through expressing and managing their worries, feelings and fears.
Warm and friendly personality with the ability to put people at ease. Comfortable using Microsoft Office software such as Word and Excel. Organised & able to manage your time, prioritise and meet deadlines. Comfortable with working as part of a team, or individual depending on task.
You will be offered comprehensive training and induction programme and will be linked with a support person on the staff team.
