We are seeking a treasuer. The role involves pulling together figures for annual accounts and dealing with the auditors, authorisation of payments, preparing base input for wages processing, assisting units with treasury matters, preparation of budgets and cash management. Fiona, our Office Manager, deals with the day-to-day financial matters and we use Sage Cloud as our accounting system. Attendance at monthly executive meetings and part of the team of the charity trustees.

About Girlguiding Edinburgh

Girlguiding encourages girls and young women to become actively involved in the world they live in. We are the biggest voluntary organisation for girls in the U.K. We have a well developed programme for training volunteers. The training is of a high standard and many skills developed are transferable to the workplace and beyond.

Experience Required

Essential: Accounting and business management experience. Open and approachable manner and commitment to ongoing personal development. Desirable: Interest in guiding and young people.

Training Details

Girlguiding Edinburgh is part of the network of Girlguiding Scotland and Girlguiding UK all of whom run training courses. Support for the treasurer will come from the Chair of Business Management and Finance and the County Commissioner.

Difficult to determine as it will vary. Annual accounts are audited mid to end November. On average I would say 3 - 5 hours per week.

Location/Travel Details

Most of this role can be carried out from home. Currently all executive meetings are on zoom and the two members of paid staff are working from home. The organisation is moving to an office at 16 Coates Crescent, Edinburgh.


Expense claim form which is authorised by the Chair of BM and F and the County Commissioner. Expenses are normally transferred into the volunteer's bank account.
