Sustainable Fashion Volunteer

SHRUB Coop’s Swapshop runs a Sustainable Fashion programme alongside it’s zero waste charity shop.
We would like to host events to explore and mitigate the environmental effects of fast-fashion and would like to start exploring how we can increase public engagement in fashion and textile sustainability through information sharing and outreach
If you would be interested in helping to create content or run events, please get in touch and let us know what your ideas are!

About SHRUB Coop

The SHRUB Coop aims to reduce waste by providing a platform for people to engage with sustainability. We run a Swapshop, where people can swap their 'waste' things for items swapped in by others, a Freeshop (for members of the co-operative), a beginners Bicycle repair and maintenance workshop, upcycling and upskilling workshops, Social Justice Movie Nights, and host a food-sharing group who tackle food waste.

Experience Required

We are looking for someone who is motivated to come in and bring energy to our group! Each volunteer can take or leave tasks as they wish to so we are looking for someone proactive who wants to get involved and is good at following through when they have committed. All of our communication is in English.

Training Details

When you start volunteering with us, you will be given a named member of staff to go to for any support you need. This staff member will also reach out to you to ask how you are doing and if you need any more support at least once every few months. There will be some induction as to how our organisation works however this group is mostly quite informal and goes where the energy from volunteers is.

Flexibility & Commitment

3 hours per week for 3 months

Location/Travel Details

This opportunity can either be done from our Zero Waste Hub at 22 Bread Street or from home. Our meetings can currently be joined both in person and online however this may change depending on what works best for the group. There are many buses going to Lothian Road and we are able to cover transport costs for volunteers coming to our premises.

Please talk to your names staff member before you do anything you want to claim back to make sure you will be able to. They will also tell you how to either get the money up front or claim it back after
