The 2019 Scottish Older People’s Assembly will be held at the Scottish Parliament on Saturday 5th October. The event will involve discussion in the Debating Chamber, break out workshops and a question and answer session with a panel of MSPs. We hope to have around 180 participants, most of whom will be older people from across Scotland.
We are looking for a small number of volunteers to support the event eg by scribing workshops and providing practical assistance to guests.
About Scottish Older People's Assembly
The Scottish Older People's Assembly exists to give a strong voice to older people about their experience of life in Scotland, their challenges and concerns, and to celebrate the positive contribution that older people make to society.
We’re looking for volunteers who are skilled note takers and confident to work independently at a large, busy and high profile event. An interest in politics, engagement and older people’s issues would be beneficial. You need to be polite, helpful and happy to engage with older people.
Induction would take place after agreement of the placement at a time that suits both the volunteer, Co-ordinator and Chair. The role would not involve any certified training.
