Join Fresh Start as a Community Pantry volunteer, and support those in need to access affordable, nutritious food for themselves and their families. This role includes a level of responsibility serving customers at the till and cash handling, so you will need to have the ability to serve customers, check their allocation and restock the shelves when needed. You must be fit and active, able to lift boxes when receiving deliveries. You will also be required to take payments for items purchased in the Fresh Start Shop, have confidence in using a laptop, and basic till and cashing up/cash handling skills. Full training is given in all aspects of the role.

With the assistance of volunteers, Fresh Start offers both practical and social support through a variety of integrated services that are intended to help people build confidence, skills and feel more settled within their communities.
Experience Required
Essential: Reliable, punctual & committed. Trustworthy and honest. In good health and physically active – able to lift and shift. Helpful, inclusive and non-judgemental. A team worker, enthusiastic, willing to get involved, be flexible in all aspects of the role – allocation, restock and till. IT literate.
Training Details
All volunteers must attend Fresh Start General Induction, which covers policies/procedures, boundaries, expectations, confidentiality and inclusion. Following this, as the Pantry is a UK wide franchise, there is specific training including manual handling, health and safety, food hygiene and handling cash and card payments.
Location/Travel Details
The Fresh Start Pantry is a shop that sits next to the Fresh Start warehouse and hub at 22-24 Ferry Road Drive. There are several buses that stop on Ferry Road (5 minute walk away) these include 27, 37, 21, 29.
