The ‘Nae Worries’ group work volunteer plays an important role in supporting the delivery of the group. Specific roles include supporting the Lead Project Worker to:
Set up the room for delivery of group work
Welcome the young people on arrival
Support group facilitator to deliver the group work programme.
Evaluate how the group work ran and how each young person engaged
Problem solve challenges with delivering the group work programme
About Health Opportunities Team
Health Opportunities Team is a young people's health promotion project specialising in sexual health and emotional well-being. Our mission is to provide evidence- based learning and development opportunities, in a variety of settings, to improve young people's emotional, social and sexual well-being. We work in partnership with a wide range of individuals and organisations to develop innovative and flexible services and to promote and share best practice. Our Aims: to deliver a variety of learning and development opportunities that are freely available for young people to access in the following environments: schools, informal community settings, streets and drop-ins; to enable young people's voice to be heard through advocacy and youth participation; to build the capacity of professionals through training, development and consultancy for young people ( 12 - 25 ) in Liberton/Gilmerton and Portobello/Craigmillar areas of Edinburgh.
Understanding of/interested in the health and social issues affecting young people in Scotland. Understanding of anxiety, signs and symptoms. Understanding and/or interest in providing young people with therapeutic emotional health support. Experience of working or volunteering with young people
For this specfic role, the volunteer will receive an induction meeting and a meeting with the project worker outlining the tasks and role. On going training is available if the volunteer cannot attend upcoming training on 24-27 September. Our training programme rolls out across the year
Flexibility & Commitment
This usually involves delivering the group for an 8-week period on a Tuesday evening from 5pm-6:30pm.
We run three 'Nae Worries' Groups per year. One group will run in Portobello from Portobello Library for an 8 week period starting on 1st October 2019 from 5pm – 6:30pm. The next groups will take place in Gilmerton and the Wester Hailes areas. Dates and Times TBC.
