Learning Hub Tutor

We are looking for volunteers to support our weekly Learning Hubs. Each hub is attended by around 10 primary school aged children who need support with their learning. The hubs are supported by VTO Staff and volunteers. We are recruiting volunteers to help manage the learning hubs and support the children with their homework, literacy and numeracy.

About Volunteer Tutors Organisation

Our Mission is to have a significant impact on the lives of socially and economically disadvantaged children. VTO provides free one to one tuition to children and young people in Scotland who face significant social and economic barriers to their education. We inspire achievement and build confidence by engaging trained volunteer tutors to work with children on a one-to-one basis so that they can get the most out of the education system.

Experience Required

You don't need any formal teaching or tutoring experience to become a tutor, just a desire to support young people to reach their full potential. Good standard of literacy and numeracy. Creativity. Enthusiasm. Resilience.

Training Details

Volunteer induction training is delivered in a dynamic and interactive online session and a timetable of additional (optional) training is made available throughout the year, focussing on topics such as dyslexia, Autism, Care Experience and EAL.
