Intandem Mentor

Move On is looking for empathetic, dedicated individuals to join our team of intandem mentors in Edinburgh and the Lothians.
The intandem project works with young people in the care system, a group identified by the Scottish government as being particularly vulnerable.
As a mentor you will support your mentee to achieve their goals, improve their overall confidence and help them reach positive destinations.
All expenses are covered and extensive training is provided.

About Move On

Move On is an organisation which works with vulnerable young people and those affected by homelessness. We offer a range of services providing advice, training, guidance and support enabling vulnerable young people and those affected by homelessness to unlock their potential and achieve a range of positive outcomes. These positive outcomes include; securing or progressing towards a job, accessing and sustaining a home, building confidence, growing support networks and increasing life skills.

Experience Required

Essential: Good Listener. Non-judgmental. Motivated. Patient. Willing to learn. Ability to travel to mentee's home. Desirable: Experience working with children or young people. Knowledge of the care system.

Training Details

Move On provides extensive training to all volunteers before becoming a mentor. This training covers a wide range of topics including child and adult protection, trauma, maintaining boundaries with mentees, mental health, LGBT+ awareness and dealing with challenging situations in the mentoring role. We also offer additional training throughout the year to all volunteers, as well as social events and volunteer steering groups.

1 hour per week for 6 months

Location/Travel Details

intandem Volunteers meet young people at their homes and engage in activities out in the community. Training will take place remotely and any face to face meetings with staff will take place at our centrally located office. All travel expenses, including fuel costs, will be reimbursed.


Volunteers will be asked to send in a completed expenses form along with all relevant receipts.
