Independent Monitoring Board Volunteer

Independent Monitoring Boards are made up of over a thousand unpaid volunteers operating in every prison in England and Wales, and every immigration detention facility across the UK. We are currently looking for members to join our Scotland and Northern Ireland Short Term Holding Facility Board and Dungavel Immigration Removal Centre Board.

About Independent Monitoring Board (IMB)

Monitor the conditions and welfare of persons detained by the United Kingdom Border Agency in the Short Term Holding Facilities (STHFs) at Edinburgh & Glasgow Airports, the Reporting Centre at Festival Court in Glasgow and the Residential STHF at Larne in Northern Ireland. The Board is appointed by and reports to the Home Office Immigration Minister in London through the IMB Secretariat.

Experience Required

Candidates need to be enthusiastic, open-minded, possess effective communication skills and have the ability to exercise sound, objective judgement.
