Events Volunteer

Our Events volunteers are responsible for helping set up our events spaces, assist attendees and ensure that our venues and guests are looked after throughout. There is also the opportunity to be more involved in the creation, design and delivery of events such as running workshops, facilitating discussions or leading crafting sessions. Please note: the volunteering opportunity is not suitable for anyone under 16years of age or who has not yet reached school-leaving age.

About SHRUB Coop

The SHRUB Coop aims to reduce waste by providing a platform for people to engage with sustainability. We run a Swapshop, where people can swap their 'waste' things for items swapped in by others, a Freeshop (for members of the co-operative), upcycling and upskilling workshops and host a food-sharing group who tackle food waste.

Experience Required

Essential Skills: Good people skills, Comfortable with spoken English, Basic numeracy skills, good time-keeping Desirable: Food handling experience, barista training, events organisation experience Barista training and Food Hygiene training are available.

Training Details

Induction training will be provided in the Zero Waste Hub and will take the form of group or 1-on-1 training sessions that will cover: till usage, space set-up, close down and cleaning procedures. There is the option to train up on basic food and drink service if desired.

Flexible;Ad hoc

Roughly once a week for a minimum of 3 months (negotiable for the Fringe Festival)

Location/Travel Details

Volunteering will take place at our Zero Waste Hub (22 Bread Street)


Reasonable travel expenses through BACS claim or petty cash. All other expenses must be agreed prior to spending.
