Comradeship Circles Facilitator Volunteer

Comradeship Circles enables socially isolated older members of the veterans’ communities to enjoy camaraderie with others who share an armed forces background in regular and facilitated telephone group calls. Tasks include:
Welcome members to the circle.
Facilitate group discussions and ensuring all members participate.
Reporting any concerns or issues with the circles to Supervisor providing notice of absences and feedback.
Researching materials or speakers for the discussions.

From a dedicated helpline for older people, to support and funds for older people's groups, to campaigns on the issues that older people tell us matter to them, we're working on many fronts to make Scotland a better place for older people.

Experience Required

Communication: active listening and clear speaking. People skills: the ability to interact effectively with a range of people. Caring and friendly nature to help people feel comfortable and encourage their active participation Creativity to develop engaging resources in response to members.

Training Details

There is an Age Scotland wide induction followed by a more specific Comradeship Circle induction. Older veterans awareness training is available to all. Taster sessions allow you to participate in an ongoing circle to identify your role more clearly.

1-2 hours per week for a minimum of 6 months
