Chair of Finance and Personnel Committee

The F&PC advises the Board on investments, finance, personnel, and health and safety policies. As Chair, you will lead the oversight of management accounts, budgets, investments, the annual audit and review papers prepared by the Chief Executive. The role involves three F&PC and three Board meetings each year.

About Ecas

Ecas is a voluntary organisation dedicated to giving friendly and practical help to physically disabled people. To achieve this Ecas does everything from running classes through to providing individual grants for holidays and equipment and supporting initiatives to bring greater freedom and independence to physically disabled people.

Experience Required

Person Specification: Has experience in finance, accounting, auditing procedures and investments. Is passionate about using their expertise to support people with physical disabilities across Edinburgh and Lothian. Is committed to Ecas’ mission statement.

Location/Travel Details

Ecas offices: Norton Park, 57 Albion Road, Edinburgh EH7 5QY. If coming by bus, the quickest way to our offices if coming from the London Road side is to go down Easter Road get off there. Turn right into Bothwell Street and follow the road round and walk over the footbridge. Once over the bridge the sandstone building straight ahead is Norton Park. (In front of Hibernian Football stadium). Access is via the rear of the building where there is also a car park. There is also free on-street parking. Meetings in person at Ecas' Offices and online.

Join us as a Family Befriender at Home Link Family Support, where your support can make a world of difference to families with young children.	The Supportive Transport Service is a key part of what we offer. It provides transportation to individuals living with or affected by HIV and/or Hepatitis C, helping them meet medical, social care, and daily needs. This might include transport to medical appointments, community activities, or essential errands like grocery shopping. Many Service Users face barriers to traveling independently due to factors such as limited mobility, social anxiety, or financial constraints. In addition to transportation, our drivers often provide a supportive presence by listening or helping individuals reflect on information shared during appointments.	The role of the Activity Buddy is to provide practical support and reduce isolation. The people we work with can find it hard to attend appointments and leisure activities due to poor physical/mental health, limited mobility, social anxiety or literacy issues. When illness, mobility, or side-effects of medication make housework or going out difficult, we offer support to make the home environment more comfortable. Volunteers play a vital part in improving service users’ physical health, mental well-being and quality of life through supportive relationships, community connection, creating pathways for personal growth and collaborative goal setting.	Parents of babies who have received care in hospital from the neonatal team can experience perinatal mental health issues and feelings of isolation.A befriender can provide emotional support to help build positive relationships between parents and their baby and improve parents’ mental health. Accessing activities in the community, going for a walk, or talking over a cuppa are some of the ways in which a Befriender can make a real difference for parents and their babies.	The Open Door Edinburgh provides support to older people, those living with dementia, poor health or mobility and those who care for them.To provide safe transport for vulnerable older people, as part of the day services staff team and drive The Open Door’s vehicle as required.
