Chair and Treasurer Roles

LeithLate is a multi-arts charity based in Leith, responsible for various public art projects and a festival, overseen by a voluntary Board of Trustees. We are seeking a Chair and a Treasurer to join the Board, as our well-loved and respected multi-arts organisation negotiates the ever-changing arts landscape in Edinburgh.
As Chair, your primary duty is to lead meetings of the Board, and ensure decisions.

Summary of charitable purposes: to advance the arts by providing a platform for artists to showcase their work and engaging with local businesses to promote artistic activity in the Leith area. to advance community development through offering volunteering opportunities at events and festivals.

Experience Required

Experience in these areas is desirable, but none is essential, so should not be seen as a barrier to applying: Arts and culture (inc. practising artists) Fundraising Admin Legal/HR EDI/work with marginalised peoples

The LeithLate Board meets on a monthly basis, usually remotely.

Location/Travel Details

The LeithLate Board meets on a monthly basis, usually remotely. Trustees are expected to attend at least 6 meetings per year, with an additional Annual General Meeting once a year. As we are a small organisation with no core staff, it is also expected that Trustees will give an additional day or two per month to work on tasks as required (e.g. fundraising, strategy documents, freelance recruitment, creative planning, etc.) Trustees typically occupy a tenure of 3-5 years, though this is subject to negotiation. Prospective LeithLate Trustees are welcome to attend a Board meeting prior to final confirmation in volunteering their services for the charity.
