Golden Years at the Ripple aims to support individuals over 60, living in Restalrig, Craigentinny or Lochend, who are at risk of or suffering from loneliness and isolation perhaps due to anxiety or depression, or they may have recently returned home from hospital, have mobility issues or suffered from a stroke. They often have no close family, or no family at all, and their social network consists of health professionals, neighbours and other voluntary sector organisations.

About The Ripple Project

Improving the quality of life for people in Restalrig and Lochend through the provision of high quality services which assist the community to help itself. We run 18 projects providing services for children and young people, families, the elderly and individuals in crisis.

Experience Required

Skills required: Good listening skills. Good communication skills. Friendly personality/ approachable. Reliable. Good time keeping. Patience/empathy. Non-judgemental. Respectful of confidentiality. Able to work within set boundaries. Keep accurate visit records.

Training Details

Full induction training will be provided and our Befriending Coordinators will provide ongoing support and guidance.

Location/Travel Details

You will be matched with someone in the Craigentinny, Lochend or Restalrig area, and there will be opportunity to meet at their home, out and about or by telephone.


Complete expenses form and expenses will be paid directly into volunteers bank account.
