Assist coach with equipment set up Assist young people get ready for activity, gym shoes on, drink of water. Support young people through encouragement and role modelling to engage in session activity and have fun – large games, boccia etc. Pupil Support Assistants support club therefore there is no requirement to provide personal care.
About Active Schools Edinburgh
Active Schools aims to help primary children become more physically active in a safe and fun environment. We run various school activity clubs inc. basketball, football, yoga, cycling, breakdancing and many more. Our ethos is that children will become more socially aware and learn important life skills through sport.
Experience Required
Dynamic, energetic & enthusiastic with a passion for working with children & young people with additional support needs (downs syndrome, autism, learning disabilities). Friendly & approachable. Good communication skills
Training Details
The induction takes place prior to starting volunteering, first session is shadowed by myself to support and give feedback. Supervision held termly. Volunteer will have access to Active Schools Fit To Coach Programme including Safe Guarding and Protecting Children, First Aid, Autism Awareness, courses are all certified. Volunteer will also be supported to attend additional training opportunities where they identify a particular area of interest.
