ACE IT Volunteer Coach

The purpose of this role is to support people over 50 to improve and advance their digital skills knowledge through face to face, hour long sessions. We are looking for volunteers with strong people skills to assist our learners with specific digital problems they have and help them to improve their digital skills in one on one sessions. We are particularly interested in hearing from people with experience using Apple and Android systems.

About ACE IT Scotland

ACE IT Scotland is an Edinburgh-based charity helping over 50s with their digital skills. This is through outreach sessions in care homes, one-to-one coaching appointments in our office, and courses to help older people re-enter the workplace. Supported by the Edinburgh Health and Social Care Partnership.

Experience Required

Essential skills include •Patience and Understanding • Strong interpersonal skills •Knowledge of working with Android or Apple systems •Willing to engage with a variety of people from different backgrounds. Previous experience coaching others would be desirable but is not essential for this role.

Training Details

An induction session will take place before your begin, including information on a short training course that is mandatory for all of our volunteers. A minimum of two sessions will be spent shadowing one of our experienced coaches before your first one to one coaching session. Any additional relevant training that may be required will be identified and you will be offered this as and when necessary.

We ask for a minimum of 2 sessions per week, with availability checked monthly.

Location/Travel Details

These sessions take place at our offices in Nicolson Square as well as partner sites across Edinburgh. Our offices are at 25 Nicolson Square, Edinburgh which is accessible by many buses via Surgeons Hall.


Each quarter, we will send out a form where expenses can be claimed. ACE IT will reimburse its volunteers with reasonable out of pocket expenses incurred in the course of their role including expenses for travel.
