Challenges Worldwide

Challenges Worldwide is a leading international development charity that recruits, trains and manages expert volunteers to carry out short assignments for social enterprise in developing countries. Our core purpose is to provide organisations, from the smallest social enterprise to national judiciary, with the support they need to achieve their objectives and contribute to the development of their local economies. Challenges Worldwide achieves this through the contribution of people with professional skills and experience who share these with our overseas partners.

Our programmes generally last between 3-6 months and cover a multitude of different areas of work: capacity building, research, management training, financial planning, strategy writing and many more. Challenges Worldwide also brokers programmes for public sector partnerships, delivering programmes within the justice sector and assisting small and medium enterprise in developing countries. We use the expertise of experienced professionals to focus on building indigenous capacity within these various sectors, while at the same time delivering practical guidance. For more information check out some of our volunteers' blogs: http://challengesworldwide.wordpress.com/

United Nations Volunteers

The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme is the UN organization that contributes to peace and development through volunteerism worldwide. Volunteerism is a powerful means of engaging people in tackling development challenges, and it can transform the pace and nature of development. Volunteerism benefits both society at large and the individual volunteer by strengthening trust, solidarity and reciprocity among citizens, and by purposefully creating opportunities for participation. UNV contributes to peace and development by advocating for recognition of volunteers, working with partners to integrate volunteerism into development programming, and mobilizing an increasing number and diversity of volunteers, including experienced UN Volunteers, throughout the world. UNV embraces volunteerism as universal and inclusive, and recognizes volunteerism in its diversity, as well as the values that sustain it: free will, commitment, engagement and solidarity.
