Improving your employability
Volunteer to help you find employment or change careers
If you've been out of work for a while you might be finding it difficult to find paid employment. Volunteering can help you get experience and build up 'soft skills' like team-working, problem solving, communication and motivation that can help you move forward. Doing voluntary work also helps give you material for your CV, give you experience to reference and talk about at interviews and generally bring your experience up to date.
Volunteering can help you:
- develop your CV
- boost your confidence
- learn new skills
- gain a reference to take to employers.
Regardless of which benefit you are on doing voluntary work does not affect your benefits. Volunteering will not affect your benefits - find out more here.
