The LOOPs (Local Opportunities for Older People) helpline is run by Volunteer Edinburgh and gives information, support and sign posting to anyone in Edinburgh who is aged 65 or over.  We can help you find out about what services and support is available to you or to find things to do within your neighbourhood.  The helpline is open Monday to Friday 11am to 2pm and as well as individuals 65 or over we can help professionals working with clients in this age group or family and friends supporting people aged 65 and over.   

Staffed by friendly, encouraging, highly trained volunteers the helpline provides a highly personalised service.  We take time to discuss with you what your situation is, your needs and your aspirations.  Using our wealth of experience and knowledge we research what is available and we even make calls on your behalf before providing you with all information that you could need.

  • Enjoy a chat with you to find out what you are interested in or what support or help you are looking for.
  • Offer a variety of options and provide information on activities for older people.
  • Follow up with people who have contacted the helpine within 24 hours.
  • Provide you with a fully personal service.
