Dr. Kris Von Wald - Convenor

Kris is an organisational development consultant and brings wide experience of both the UK and USA non-profit sectors to the role. Kris has previously chaired the boards of the Forum of Community and Restorative Justice and Broomfield Soccer Club as well as serving on the boards of Comas, International Voluntary Service (GB) and the Equipment Leasing Association.

Jan Bateman - Deputy Convenor

Jan

Jan was appointed Deputy Chair in 2010 and has been on our board since 2006.  She has volunteered with the Centre as an employability mentor since 2003 and has also facilitated strategy sessions for the network of Volunteer Centres.  Jan is also on the management board of NEECS (North East Edinburgh Counselling Service) and acts as a mentor for managers of commercial and third sector organisations with the Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce.   She has many years of management experience from the IT services industry and enjoys adapting techniques and procedures from the commercial world for the third sector.
 

Laura Morrison

Laura

A Trustee since 2007, Laura is a solicitor specialising in employment law with the law firm, Maclay Murray & Spens LLP.  She co-ordinates staff participation in community projects and is a member of that firm's corporate social responsibility committee which fundraises for an annually elected charity of the year.  Laura has previous experience as a volunteer advisor at the Citizens Advice Bureau and with Glasgow University's ‘Nightline’ helpline for students.

 Linda Hamilton

Aside from her Trustee responsibilities, Linda currently holds the post of Area Volunteer Manager covering Edinburgh, East & Mid Lothian & The Borders for Cancer Research UK.  She has been in this role for four years.  She has worked in the voluntary sector for over 10 years, working in fundraising and volunteer management for both large and small organisations.
 

 Jane Kille

Jane

Jane has been associated with VCE as a volunteer mentor for nearly 10 years, and has served on the Board since 2008 with a particular interest in its governance as the VCE develops professionally.  Her business background includes small and large organisations in the public and private sector and for the last 10 years she has worked as an organisational consultant to small organisations and companies, particularly those going through change.  Jane uses her mentoring and coaching skills as part of her approach to helping organisations review their activities and structure.  She chairs the Media Group, a sub committee of the Business Committee of the General Council of the University of Edinburgh, and is Deputy Convenor of the Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (RSA) in Scotland.

Roger Wilson

Roger

Roger joined the Board in 2009.  He has a background in HR and Corporate Social Responsibility within the corporate sector. For six years Roger was manager of a charitable foundation and was specifically responsible for the development and delivery of a UK-wide employee supported volunteering programme.  He is now self-employed and supports businesses to develop and implement their community investment strategies and programmes, with particular reference to employee engagement and volunteering.  He is keen to help businesses create meaningful partnerships with charities and community groups.  Roger is a member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and an ambassador for the charity, Tomorrow's People, which supports young people in to work, training or education.  

Norman Craig

Norm

Norman has a long experience in voluntary roles and as well as Volunteer Centre he is a Trustee of two other charities with particular emphasis on mental health and well being. Now retired from a long career in business he brings a professional understanding of risk and the part that plays in managing organisations. On the Board since 2009 his depth of understanding should help greatly in charting a way through the choppier waters that may lie ahead. 

 

Edward Hibbert

 
Edward has been a Trustee since 2010.  He has worked for many years in IT, and now does IT work for the third sector in Edinburgh.  He is particularly interested in how technology can create virtual communities and, since 2005, has been involved in Freegle, a voluntary movement which helps keep usable items out of landfill by giving them away to people nearby.  This has given him experience and interest in the joys and challenges of volunteering.
 

Angela Napuk

Angela is a retired primary school teacher where she worked in England, America and Scotland.  Angela also ran the Assessment of Achievement Programme and Educational Assessment Unit in the University of Edinburgh.  She has been volunteering for many years with several different charities.
