Aims

Volunteer Centre Edinburgh exists to involve more people more effectively in volunteering to help solve real problems and enrich communities.

We do this by

• encouraging people to engage in voluntary work

• providing a focus for voluntary activity

• promoting and developing volunteering opportunities

• encouraging and supporting good practice in involving volunteers.

Objectives

To achieve our aims:

• we provide a recruitment service to voluntary and statutory agencies involving part-time volunteers in Edinburgh

• we provide advice and information to prospective volunteers

• we work with agencies involving volunteers through: consultancy; networking; 1:1 support; advice; information; training, Investors in Volunteers to promote the best possible practice when involving volunteers

• we are a lead partner in the development of a Volunteering Strategy for Edinburgh

• we develop voluntary opportunities for people who may require extra support

• we actively promote volunteering to groups of people presently under-represented
